Vegas Baby!

There’s just something about walking into an enormous hotel suite on the 19th floor of Planet Hollywood, throwing open the shades to behold a view of Vegas, and turning on the hot tub that makes you feel like you’ve really made it!

As soon as QueerPornTv learned we were nominated for Best Alternative Website, we knew we had to band together to make a big splash in Vegas.

Queer Porn as a genre took the AVNs and AEE by unprecedented storm this year. We gathered Queer Porn Stars Courtney Trouble, Tina Horn, James Darling, Charlie Spats, Wolf Hudson, Sophia St James, Quinn Valentine, Arabelle Raphael, Akira Raine, Tobi Hill-Meyer, and Maxine Holloway into one enormous suite for a spectacularly fun and productive weekend. We were a strong presence at the convention, events, and afterparties. But much more importantly, we stood together as a community, as a unified front of strong-willed, open-minded, sex positive people going against the grain of the industry.

Plus we all looked FABULOUS, don’t you agree?

One highlight of the weekend was a party and sex-ed panel hosted by Smitten Kitten. Sophia, Tobi, Courtney and Tina were joined by Nina Hartley, Dylan Ryan, and Danny Wylde to discuss the future of sexual education from feminist, queer, and progressive perspectives.

The next night we took the red carpet by storm with our glamour and diversity, amusing each other with flirting and Madonna sing-alongs. Our crew made history when Charlie Spats and James Darling became the second two transmen ever to walk the AVN red carpet!  Afterwards, we absconded to a local restaurant for expensive steaks (with marrow!) and cocktails.

Now that we’re all recouperating in our respective beds, it’s time to think about 2012. We are moving and shaking in the underground and mainstream, but huge strides still need to be made.
